Frequently Asked Questions

“How do I Register for an Event?”

Look on the Events page of the website www.healersinbalance.com and click on the Register, Register Now, or Sign Up button – it should send your browser to the page for Registration. If you have any difficulties, either call the phone number for the hosting facility/agency or email info@healersinbalance.com and you will be assisted in completing registration.

“Will these CEU hours count toward my licensure?”

Healers in Balance does not pre-approve with all Licensing boards. I find that spending time and energy and staying current on all those efforts detracts from the work I do to provide the richest, fullest, most helpful information and experience possible in all of the presentations I offer. My promise is that you will undoubtedly benefit from whatever presentation you attend, and not regret attending, whether your Board approves it or not.

Thus my approach is to provide a CEU Certificate (pre-printed if I know you are coming), and encourage all participants to list it in their CEU’s for Re-Licensure. I have never been informed of a problem with licensure credit, and everyone from Social Workers to LPC’s, PhD’s, Teachers, Nurses, etc have attended my presentations. I cannot promise approval (the Social Work Licensing Board won’t even pre-approve ANY CEU’s!), but can tell you I’ve presented in various venues since 2007 with success.

If your Board would like specific Objectives for the presentation you attended, you can contact me via email and I will send them to you. info@healersinbalance.com

If you need more surety, perhaps your Board could give you a more definitive answer.  Either way, it’s worth the gamble, because you will be making such a good decision for yourself as a human helper! This information is actually priceless, considering the potential impact on the helper and those they serve.

“Can you give me specific information about activities during the Healer’s Retreat?”

Much of what you might like to know is in the current info on the website www.healersinbalance.com Specifically the Events, Services (descriptions for each presentation) and Healer’s Retreat pages.

The Healer’s Retreat page has Links to view the Healer’s Retreat Brochure and the Flyer, as well as a description of the presentations included. Any other activities during the Retreat and within the Presentations are not delineated, but we will be putting what is learned into practice. You will have had the experience of a Retreat at the close of the weekend!

“For the Healer’s Retreat, is there a way to attend the sessions without lodging?”

No, only because allowing for this impacts the experience for the Retreatants, and it does not allow the “day-trippers” to glean from the experience of Retreat.

The purpose of the Healer’s Retreat, in general, is to provide the healers with a real-time experience in Retreat, putting it into practice and sharing it with other healers — while they also gain the info and insight I have to offer about why this kind of action and mindset is so important for us. This intention does not really allow for those who would come just for the presentations. Not only would they be somewhat distracted and still engaged in their daily lives rather than in the mindset of Retreat mode, they could also cause a distraction or detraction for those who do come for the Retreat experience. I will guide and encourage all who attend to relax their minds about daily concerns, sink into the experience for themselves, and allow their minds, spirits, emotions, etc to be available to the benefits of Retreat. And as a group Retreat, it is a richer experience when the group has full engagement and continuity in the Retreat. We will also have opportunities in the evening to meditate, journal, contemplate, color together, etc.

I will also briefly add something this point: Even though one might live near the Retreat Center, it’s not about proximity to the Retreat location, but about mindset. Although I have proven to myself that one can Retreat at home, it is quite challenging, takes practice and intention, and is certainly more the exception than the rule. I wish to provide support and guidance for the participants to be engaged fully in the Retreat, in order to get the overall benefit being offered with this event.

“Can you tell me about the accommodations at St. Scholastica?”

St Scholastica is a dorm-style setting with your own room (unless you have a friend who wishes to share as some have twin beds) and a shared bathroom/shower room in the hall. Men and women are placed on different halls.

There is a kitchenette available on each floor with refrigerator, microwave, and a community coffee pot.

I encourage you to contact the Retreat Center with any other questions about accommodations or meals (if meals are offered during the CEU event), etc. They are most helpful.

Is there a religious affiliation between Healers in Balance and St. Scholastica Retreat Center?”

Healers in Balance conducts presentations and workshops in all types of venues and has no affiliation with any of them. Each venue is chosen for its appropriateness re: activities, location, convenience, and proximity to those who might benefit. Sometimes, Healers in Balance is invited to participate (as in a Conference or all-day offering) and does not choose the venue.

St. Scholastica is indeed located on a Monastery but the Retreat Center is just one of their efforts to be of service. The attitude there is fully welcoming and accepting to all. You can read more about the Mission of the Retreat Center here http://www.stscho.org/retreatctr.html
