Aftermath

Many of us will experience the Aftermath of tragic acts by clients in our care. No one – clinicians, case managers, nor Administration, really knows what to do or how to process tragic acts on the part of clients.

A presentation that acknowledges and addresses the largely unknown, misunderstood, and often underestimated effects of client suicide and/or homicide on the helping professional. Informs participants of common responses (including effects on the professional and on client- care) and processes Healers experience following the tragedy, acknowledging the struggle of grieving and processing vs. professional practice and responsibilities. Practical recommendations are offered, based on experience and actual interviews, for what is healthy, effective, and helpful following a client tragedy – avoiding harmful effects to one’s self-concept and practice as a professional. This workshop also addresses issues that arise, such as post-tragedy confidentiality and other ethical/administrative concerns, offering suggestions for healthy outcomes and retention.*

Also includes discussion re: loss of clients to natural or accidental causes; appropriate acknowledgment and/or grieving, considering the relationship itself. Format is stimulating & interactive; speaker style is engaging and experienced.
